Experience and Qualifications

As an Arizona native, Kathleen Nielsen grew up in the Midwest and has been a member of the Ahwatukee and Tempe communities for over 30 years. She earned her degree in criminal justice from Arizona State University, graduating with honors. She then went on to earn her law degree from the Arizona State University College of Law, now called Sandra Day O'Connor College of Law. Kathleen began her legal career as a clerk for the Hon. Joe W. Contreras, then Chief Judge of the Arizona Court of Appeals, Division 1, in Phoenix.
